Emergency Dentist in Midlothian

A dental emergency can happen at any time, and it is essential to be prepared for one. Dr. David Rivers and his team at River Ranch Dental in Midlothian, Texas, are here to help you prepare for a dental emergency.

What is a Dental Emergency?

A dental emergency occurs when someone injures their teeth or soft tissue in their mouth, and the injury could cause permanent damage if not treated right away. Although there are many different types of dental emergencies, few are familiar. At River Ranch Dental, we perform emergency dentistry for patients with knocked-out teeth, broken teeth, or toothaches.

Knocked-Out Tooth in Midlothian, Texas

Call River Ranch Dental right away if you have a knocked-out tooth in Midlothian, Texas, or a surrounding area. Our dentist, Dr. Rivers, can help you restore your smile. If you or your child’s tooth is knocked out, the first thing to do is avoid panicking. Panicking could make the situation worse. Next, try to find the knocked-out tooth. If you can find it, attempt to place it back into the socket. Do not wipe or rinse off the tooth before placing it in the socket, as this could damage essential structures of the tooth. If the tooth does not fit in the socket, put it in a jar or bag or milk and bring it to River Ranch Dental. Call our office when the incident occurs and let us know that you are coming in for an emergency dentist appointment.

Broken Tooth in Midlothian, Texas

Like a knocked-out tooth in Midlothian, Texas, it is important not to panic if you break a tooth. Try to find the missing piece of the tooth and bring it into our office. Call River Ranch Dental and let us know you can visit for an emergency appointment.

Toothache in Midlothian, Texas

There are many different causes of toothaches. If you have a toothache, the first thing you should do is gently floss around the tooth. Flossing will help loosen debris that could be causing pain in your tooth. If this does not improve the toothache, call our office for an emergency dentistry appointment. Common causes of toothaches could be dental decay and infection.

Restoring a Dental Emergency

If you have had a dental emergency in the past, there are several different ways Dr. Rivers and his team can restore your smile. First, we always attempt to restore your smile with your natural tooth. However, this is not always possible. We utilize other procedures such as dental implants, dental bonding, dental crowns, and more to restore dental emergencies.

Knocked-out or Infected Tooth Restoration

If you are missing a tooth because it was knocked out or your dentist extracted it because of an infection, you may benefit from a dental implant. A dental implant restores your tooth from the root to the crown. A metal post is placed in the jawbone where the root typically sits. Then, we place an abutment on top. Next, an attachment is chosen. If you miss one tooth, Dr. Rivers may restore your smile with a dental crown; however, if you miss multiple teeth, Dr. Rivers can restore your smile with a dental bridge or dentures.

Broken Tooth Restoration

If you have a broken tooth, Dr. Rivers can restore your smile with a dental crown or dental bonding. A dental crown, also called a cap, is placed on the tooth. For a dental bonding procedure, Dr. Rivers will use a composite resin material to reform part of the tooth. This material is tooth-colored and will match the rest of your teeth.

It is essential to have an emergency dentist you trust in your area if you experience a dental emergency. For more information about dental emergencies or to schedule an appointment, call our office.
